Description
Seawise Stability Monitor
The SeaWise™ stability monitor was specifically designed for the fishing industry, this is equally applicable to other craft. The development of SeaWise™ from the original Kranskan™ safety indicator has seen the product rigorously tested and it is now available for commercial use.
FACTS
The biggest loss of life in the fishing industry is due to the sinking of vessels when they lose stability.
Features
- The system monitor logs the loss of stability through continuous roll period measurement
- Sets off an alarm when the metacentric height reaches the threshold of 0.35 m specified by the IMO.
- Advanced software, specifically developed for the application, enables SeaWise™ to discount the motions which interrupt the rolling period.
The current Mk II SeaWise™ monitor was developed with the assistance of a grant funding from Lloyd’s Register Foundation, Trinity House, and the European Maritime & Fisheries Fund, which was provided by the Marine Management Organisation.
Model tests with the on-board sensors were carried out at the University of Edinburgh using the wave basin at the engineering laboratories, sea trials which developed from the work carried out proved successful with all different types of fishing vessel.
